Katy Perry’s Las Vegas residency at Resorts World opened on Wednesday night, and her costumes are exactly as elaborate and whimsical as people have come to expect from the pop super star. Designed by Zaldy, Heather Picchiottino and Johnny Wujek, Perry’s looks are a compliment to her incredible stage design, which include 20 foot tall mushrooms, giant cereal boxes, a snail she rides across the stage, and an enormous toilet well-supplied with massive toilet paper rolls. She needs her outfits to keep from fading into the background.
Perry’s five-act show is produced by Baz Halpin, and includes her big hits “California Gurls,” “Firework” and a cover ofWhitney Houston’s “Greatest Love of All.” Reviews for the show have been great, with Rolling Stone’s Mark Gray saying the production was “larger than life.”
“Aptly titled ‘Play,’ the show is quintessential Perry, who indulged the emotional, the over-the-top, the whimsical, the psychedelic, and even the cheesy over the course of 95 minutes,” wrote Gray.
Below are some of the show-stopping looks that helped Perry through her big numbers.
Silver thigh high boots and metallic bustier.
Two-tone boots, a white mini-dress and matching crown headband.
A festival of fringe with a white turban.
Form-fitting pink and white frock with a scalloped hem.
A psychedelic sequined pattern gown.
And a mushroom cap hat with a swirling red skirt.
