Today, on the day of the late monarch’s state funeral, her dogs, Muick and Sandy, were walked by guards inside Windsor Castle. Prince Andrew was seen standing with them for a few minutes before heading to his mother’s service.

The funeral took place at Westminster Abbey in London at 11 a.m. U.K. time. Attendees included the entire royal family, as well as royals from other countries and world leaders.

BAZAAR.com previously reported that it is Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, who will now take care of the queen’s corgis following her death. The exes still live together at Royal Lodge in Windsor—Muick and Sandy’s new home.

A source close to the Duke of York told BAZAAR, “The corgis will return to live at Royal Lodge with The Duke and Duchess. It was The Duchess who found the puppies which were gifted to Her Majesty by The Duke.”

The source added, “The Duchess bonded with Her Majesty over dog walking and riding horses and even after her divorce, she would continue her great friendship with Her Majesty by walking the dogs in Frogmore and chatting.”

Prince Andrew and his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, gifted the monarch dogs Muick and Fergus in spring 2021, when Prince Philip was hospitalized. Fergus sadly died at two months old, after which Andrew gifted his mother another corgi, Sandy, on what would have been Philip’s 100th birthday.
