Jennifer Lawrence’s new movie, No Hard Feelings, might feature her character trying to coax a 19-year-old into his romantic awakening, but make no mistake: JLaw’s a grown-up, and her slate of red carpet ensembles this year are evidence of her sartorial evolution.
Her latest look is a sheer black Christian Dior gown, which she wore for the U.K. premiere of No Hard Feelings on June 12. (The film itself is out on June 23.) She paired the dress with a matching bandeau and gloves, plus jewelry from Anita Ko and Ana Khouri.
As the actress recently told Good Morning America, she wasn’t looking for a new project when the script for No Hard Feelings landed in her lap. Lawrence had only just given birth to her first child with husband Cooke Maroney in February 2022. “I had just had a baby, so I definitely wasn’t planning on working,” she said. “And I just—I read the script, and it was just too funny. It was the funniest thing I had ever read.”
In a separate interview with Access Hollywood, Lawrence revealed that [director and co-writer] Gene Stupnitsky wrote the script “with me in mind, with my kind of voice in mind, so there are some similarities” between her and her character, Maddie.
Lawrence, who’s also a producer on the film, also told GMA that her new life as a working mom and actress is “busy, but focused and streamlined. I don’t take on anything that I can’t personally read every draft of and give notes on.” Still, she added, she finds family life to be an enormous joy. “There is just—once you start your family, it’s just—it’s the greatest thing in the world. I’m just gonna try to take in every second and be present and enjoy it.”
