Taylor Swift and Sophie Turner’s surprise night out may have had the internet talking, but privately, the two women have actually been friends for some time, a source told Entertainment Tonight.
“[They] have always liked and respected each other,” the source said. “They are fans of each other and have been friends for a while. Sophie doesn’t care that Taylor dated Joe [Jonas, Turner’s soon-to-be ex-husband]. It was so long ago and in the past. Taylor has a good time when she’s with Sophie, and they enjoyed some fun girl time together last night.”

A second source revealed that Turner and Swift had dinner at Via Carota, then went and got drinks and some caviar at Temple Bar on Tuesday.
“Sophie seemed to be happy and enjoying the night,” an eyewitness at the bar told the outlet. “They seemed to be having the best time—they were laughing and chitchatting with the waitstaff and drinking martinis.”
This isn’t the first time Turner has showed public appreciation for Swift. When the singer released her Fearless (Taylor’s Version) “From the Vault” Joe Jonas breakup song, “Mr. Perfectly Fine,” in April 2021, Turner posted a screenshot of herself listening to it on her Instagram Story. Turner wrote, “it’s not NOT a bop.”
Swift briefly dated Jonas in 2008, while Turner and Jonas were married for four years and share two children. Jonas filed for divorce earlier this month.
Turner released a statement with Jonas regarding the split. “After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” they wrote. “There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
