Emily Ratajowksi is used to having her name on everyone’s lips—but when was the last time we knew what was on hers? The New York City-based It Girl has that midas touch—so it’s no surprise she’s currently an Hourglass Cosmetics ambassador. This year, the brand launched a series of matte lipsticks, confirming that matte is back. Ratajowski, a self-proclaimed “makeup obsessive,” shares she’s the friend who does everyone’s makeup before a girl’s night out or on a girl’s trip. At the moment, she’s into neutrals and browns for her lips: “I’m very into terracotta. I don’t let my face get in the sun, but my skin is naturally olive, so if I don’t warm my face up with makeup, I look bad. I look pale and jaundice,” she says.
For her everyday, she wears her Hourglass Shape and Sculpt Lip Liner in Uncover 4, a warm terracotta. She pairs that with their Unlocked Soft Matte Lipstick in Sparrow 350, a neutral, deep rose. “The textures on these [lipsticks] are insane. They’re so velvety and nice,” she says. And while matte is back, Ratajowksi is a gloss girl through and through. “I like to look dewy in general. I like my skin to look healthy and dewy. My girlfriends and I call it slut gloss,” she says, referring to her skin and lips.
Ratajowksi is often photographed having the kind of New York nights that small-town girls fantasize about while watching Sex and the City. You might spot her in a red lip. “[It’s] a commitment,” she says, and adds, “You got to make sure that it’s not on your teeth.” She loves the Hourglass Satin Crème Red 0 Lipstick and likes to pair it with a glossy balm, her go-to way of wearing red lipstick. Her three-year-old son, Sebastian, is also a fan: “He put on red lipstick the other day,” she comments, sharing how he likes to watch her get ready in the morning. “My beauty routine definitely became condensed. I get ready quicker than I did before I became a mom. I think it’s important for your child to see you living your life and then being a part of it.”
