Before they became friends, Sabrina Carpenter was a huge fan of Taylor Swift. Through many years of devoted fandom and hard work on her own career, Carpenter managed to not only meet her idol, she was hired to go on tour with her. Carpenter made appearances during the Eras Tour as an opener and even ended up singing alongside Swift on stage.

When Carpenter was only nine-years-old, she was filmed singing Swift’s hit song “White Horse.”

She shared her first YouTube video in 2009, which was a cover of Swift’s “Picture to Burn.”
That same month, she tweeted about how she tried to enter a contest to meet Swift, but was told she was too young.

She did get to go to Swift’s concert in 2010 and later reshared her original tweet about it when announcing her tour.
2017
Carpenter finally met Swift sometime in 2017, and told Who What Wear that the 1989 singer had her cats with her backstage.
“I have older sisters, so if anything, it felt like that type of a relationship,” she said of the first encounter.

Swift sent Carpenter a Red (Taylor’s Version) package before the album was released.
February 2022
In an interview with GQ, Carpenter simply said, “I love Taylor Swift.”
August 2022
The two posed together at the 2022 VMA after-party along with BLACKPINK’s Rosé.

They were photographed together again at the American Music Awards with the musician Gayle.
February 2023
They were seen hanging out at the 2023 Grammys afterparty.

Carpenter was photographed in Philadelphia in the VIP tent for Swift’s Eras Tour show.

It was announced that Carpenter would be on the South American leg of the Eras Tour.
“Really thrilled to tell you this!! Mexico, Argentina and Brazil: We are bringing The Eras Tour to you this year!” Swift wrote, adding, “Sweet angel princess @SabrinaAnnLynn will be joining us on all of the shows!”
Carpenter also shared how important the milestone was for her, writing, “Trying to process this but alas I shant. CANT WAIT TO JOIN THE ERAS TOUR IN LATIN AMERICA. Thank u @taylorswift13 u the 1 :’) this is the dreamiest dream come true.”

Swift brought a big crew to see the Kansas City Chiefs face off against the New York Jets, including Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Sophie Turner. Carpenter was also in the VIP booth cheering on Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce.
Shortly after, Carpenter shared a cover of Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble,” and her friend approved.

Carpenter attended Swift’s 34th birthday party in New York City.
January 2024
In her interview with Who What Wear, Carpenter talked about joining the Eras Tour, saying, “I’m not gonna say I peed my pants because that sounds really graphic and maybe not sanitary, but I think it really just caught me off guard.”
She added, “It was very much a childhood dream come true. I still probably have not processed it if I’m being completely honest with you.”

Carpenter continued on with the Eras Tour after the Latin America shows, joining the Australian leg. On their off time, the pair went to the Australia Zoo. In Sydney, Swift and Carpenter sang a mashup of “White Horse” and “Coney Island.”
Of the duet, Carpenter said, “I told her this: That was the first song I ever learned on guitar. But also, she knows that my first ever cover on YouTube was her song. I was super little. That was a very full-circle moment.”

After her Eras Tour time ended, Carpenter wrote a loving tribute to Swift.

Carpenter posed for Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS line. Carpenter said she talked about it with Swift ahead of time, since they have a difficult history.
“As much as people want to believe you’re tuned into every little thing, I’m not because I’m constantly working,” she told Rolling Stone. “In that scenario, I’ve been very, very communicative with her about that situation, and I just love her so much and support her till the end. So it was no weirdness for me, but I know people will just say things because that’s all they have time to do.”

Carpenter celebrated a pretty heft list of accomplishments this year, writing in an Instagram post, “And just like that you guys sold out the entire short n’ sweet tour, espresso went #1 at pop radio andddddd i slid down this slide :’) thank you all so so much!!! i can’t wait to see you on the road.”
Swift commented on the post, “SUMMER OF SABRINA AND MAY IT CONTINUE FOREVER,” with an angel emoji.
