The eighth season of Selling Sunset just wrapped, ending on a number of different cliffhangers. Fans, of course, are desperate to find out if Netflix’s glossy real estate show will be back for a ninth season anytime soon. From dramatic rumors about Chelsea Lazkani’s marriage to potential new agents threatening to cause drama at The Oppenheim Group, we have so many questions. Here’s what we know about Selling Sunset season 9 so far.
Has Selling Sunset been renewed for season 9?
While Selling Sunset has regularly received two-season renewals in its history, there’s no official word on whether the show will be back for a ninth season—yet. However, this has been one of Netflix’s biggest reality hits since its inception (and season 9 swiftly climbed the platform’s Top 10 list), so the streamer has plenty of reason to give Selling Sunset another go, but we’ll still have to wait for an official announcement.
What has the cast said about the future of Selling Sunset?
Unfortunately, not everyone was happy with season 8 of Selling Sunset. Prior to the season airing, Chrishell Stause took to Instagram to voice complaints about some of the things that made it into the season, as reported by Cosmopolitan. Namely, Stause took issue with Nicole Young’s allegations about Emma Hernan. Throughout the season, Young repeated rumors that Hernan had allegedly slept with a married man, telling multiple cast members. No proof was offered regarding the rumors, and Hernan wasn’t confronted with the information.
On August 31, Stause wrote in an Instagram story, “Are we really still giving air time to LIARS that just want air time??” In a subsequent slide, Stause suggested she was seriously unhappy with the production team behind the show. “I will NEVER work on a show with her on it again,” she explained, referring to Young. She continued, “Disclaimer when you watch: just know she spews a disgusting lie about a bestie that is categorically FALSE and SUPER damaging. It is NOT TRUE.” Stause also referred to the producers at Done and Done Productions, who work on Selling Sunset, claiming that Hernan wasn’t given a chance to “defend herself with the truth.”
Lazkani also posted about the drama on her Instagram Stories, calling Young “diabolical.” She also tagged the producers and wrote, “where is your moral ground and integrity?? Spreading lies for views is so damaging.”
What would Selling Sunset season 9 be about?
Lazkani’s split from her husband Jeff was featured heavily throughout season 8. The season ended with Lazkani viewing a house and wondering whether it would be a good home for her and her children following the breakup. It’s possible another season of Selling Sunset would follow Lazkani’s journey after she filed for divorce in March 2024.
It’s also likely any future season of Selling Sunset would address the cheating allegations Bre Tiesi revealed regarding Lazkani’s husband in season 8. Lazkani believed Tiesi was purposely trying to humiliate her by sharing the rumors on camera, which caused even more friction between the real estate agents.
The season also ended with Tiesi’s friend Amanda Lynn visiting The O Group offices and hinting that she’d like to join the company. As Lynn was responsible for telling Tiesi about the cheating allegations involving Lazkani’s husband, she’s unlikely to be welcomed by the show’s other agents. Plus, Lynn has faced allegations of racism after some of her old X posts resurfaced, Bustle reported, which would make her unpopular with cast members and viewers alike.
Season 8 introduced new real estate agent Alanna Gold, who took some of her cast mates to visit vacation destination Pioneertown, of which she is one of many co-owners. A season 9 renewal would allow Gold to make her mark on The Oppenheim Group, and hopefully land some bigger listings, after competing with her co-workers.
On Instagram, Stause revealed that a ton of important moments didn’t make the cut of Selling Sunset’s eighth season. Perhaps most surprising is the fact that Stause and partner G Flip filmed an update about their decision to start a family together. It seems fans will have to wait for future seasons of the show to find out whether G Flip and Stause have moved ahead with expanding their family.
Could Christine Quinn return for Selling Sunset season 9?
Christine Quinn was a beloved (though at times controversial) cast member of Selling Sunset for the show’s first five seasons. However, her tenure on the series came to an end in the season 5 finale. Quinn branched out by starting RealOpen with her then-husband Christian Dumontet, an agency that allows buyers to purchase real estate with cryptocurrency. She also released her first book, How to Be a Boss B*tch, and walked in Balenciaga’s Haute Couture show in Paris alongside Nicole Kidman and Kim Kardashian.
Now that Quinn is getting divorced, many have wondered if she could return to the reality show that made her famous. Speaking to TMZ in July, Quinn’s former boss Jason Oppenheim said, “I have nothing against her coming back.” He continued, “I think everyone deserves a second chance. I think I would be on board, but that would be a group decision.” Plus, Quinn was spotted on the red carpet with Mary Bonnet, Nicole Young, and Jason back in June. While the idea of Quinn returning to Selling Sunset once seemed impossible, it doesn’t seem quite so unlikely now.
