Some spoilers below for Outer Banks season 4.
Well, it would seem John B is eager to have kids with his 19-year-old girlfriend—but that’s only if Sarah Cameron can survive another Outer Banks cliffhanger. At the end of Outer Banks season 4 part 1, Sarah (Madelyn Cline) and Pope (Jonathan Daviss) are stuck in a crypt, the water level steadily rising as rain pours into their accidental prison. Of course, that’s far from the only life-threatening drama haunting the Pogues; as in all things OBX, dead bodies, secretive dads, and barely believable treasure abound. Here’s what we know so far about what’s next for Sarah, John B (Chase Stokes), their hypothetical children, and the Netflix adventure series as a whole.
When does Outer Banks season 4 part 2 come out?
Rest assured, episode 5, “Albatross,” is not the end of the saga. The series will return to finish out its fourth season on November 7, 2024, with the final five episodes dropping at 3 a.m. EST on Netflix.
Why is Outer Banks season 4 split into two parts?
This split schedule is something Netflix has been testing out with some of its tentpole shows recently, including Bridgerton and Emily in Paris. The strategy seems to be working, even if not all fans are, uh, fans of split seasons. As journalist Walter Hickey, author of You Are What You Watch: How Movies and TV Affect Everything, told Yahoo Entertainment in August, the split premieres allow Netflix “to have these contracts remain in force, essentially, with the actors and the production crew. But it allows them to basically get two bites at the apple when it comes to building momentum for a finale.”
What will season 4 part 2 be about?
It doesn’t seem Sarah has any plans to get pregnant soon, mercifully, so we needn’t expect any mini John Bs toddling around Poguelandia before season 4 is out. But there’s still a lot for the Pogues to process pre-settling down. To recap:
- Sarah and Pope are trapped underground
- Cleo (Carlacia Grant) still wants revenge against Lightner (Rigo Sanchez) for the death of her father-figure, Terrance (Terence Rosemore)
- Rafe (Drew Starkey) has signed the dotted line on what is definitely a bad deal
- John B is trying really hard not to become a murderer like his dad
- JJ just found out he’s the secret grandson of Wes Genrette.
Will these poor kids ever conquer their daddy issues? Probably not. But will they at least find Blackbeard’s treasure? That seems more likely—but Netflix is keen to keep us waiting to find out. The streamer’s part 2 teaser trailer, which plays at the end of episode 5, teases Sheriff Shoupe (Cullen Moss) catching up to his Pogue suspects; JJ smashing windows with a baseball bat; a shipwrecked Rafe; the Pogue crew crossing a desert; and Sarah Cameron with a gun. Never a good thing!
