Cons
- Might be too minimal for some
Remember The Row’s no-phone policy at its spring/summer 2025 show? This was the notebook placed on every attendee’s seat. Midori has somewhat of a cult following, and evidently that includes the Olsen twins.
Dimensions: Length: 8.2 inches; width: 5.8 inches
Colors: Cream
Customer review: “I’ve been using this on repeat for a few years. It’s comfortable to write on, and it’s so easy to use.”
Pros

This is the planner that senior fashion commerce editor Dale Arden Chong buys every year. If you’re looking for something that’s more of a journal than an hourly timetable, the Hobonichi might be the one for you.
Dimensions: Length: 5.8 inches; width: 4.1 inches
Colors: White
Customer review: “It’s great; I love it! I like the paper quality, and the whole book is light and easy to carry around. Excited to use it in the coming year!”

How to Find the Right Planner for You
I can’t overstate how much this comes down to personal preference. There are so many small factors to consider, a few of which I’m breaking down below. If you’ve spent years testing and trying different agendas, you probably have an idea of what you like. If not, there’s only one way to find out. You might have to play around until you find the right one for you. Embrace the chance to be selective! Here are a few key elements to consider when purchasing a planner:
- Are you looking for daily, weekly, or monthly layouts? Most styles contain a combination of these.
- Do you like spiral binding?
- What size are you looking for? I like to have plenty of room to write things out, so pocket-sized diaries are not a good match for me. But if you’re looking for something you can keep in your purse, that’s important to take into account. Many of the options in this list are standard A5 or A6 paper sized, but you can also find compact or jumbo planners, too.
- Would you prefer soft or hard cover?
- How do you intend to use your planner? Depending on your answer, you may want to look for agendas with specific formatting. For example, if keeping track of scheduling and meetings is important, you might want a daily planner that has hourly time slots. Personally, I like mine to have room for open note taking, where I can track things like exercise, meal plans, and to-do lists.
