She’s no longer a blonde, Mamma Mia!’s Sophie be damned. Amanda Seyfried debuted a new hair look at the 2024 Met Gala, trading in her signature sunny locks for a structured, metallic-silver hair-do and tiara, smiling on the steps with a fuchsia lip.
The 38-year-old actress, styled by Elizabeth Stewart, walked the carpet in Prada. The look, which matches her shimmering silver hair, was repurposed from the brand’s 2009 spring collection and was created out of leftover deadstock fabric.
“I feel a lot of guilt and shame, literally every day,” said Seyfried said to the New York Times about the environment, prompting her to chose a look that took the planet into account. She added, “If I’m going to go to the Met bal, there has to be solar panels on my head, or I’m not going.”
Flowers were added to better fit the event’s “Garden of Time” theme. The overall aesthetic also referenced Old Hollywood, proving the fashion of the roaring ’20s is so back.
Seyfried is no stranger to the Met Gala. The Emmy Award winner wore an Oscar de la Renta dress with Cartier jewelry last year, and she has been a first Monday in May favorite. Known for her starring roles in Les Misérables, Mank, and Mean Girls, Seyfried has a whole slate of projects on the horizon. In 2o22, the star said to ELLE about playing Elizabeth Holmes in The Dropout, “If you’re playing somebody who’s real, the further away you get from yourself—the more indulgent—the farther you fall into the character.”
