Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez have made legal moves to end their marriage of two years. TMZ reports that Grande, followed by Gomez, filed for divorce today. Grande’s attorney Laura Wasser filed first, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce. Their date of separation is listed as Feb. 20, 2023.
Sources told TMZ that Grande and Gomez worked everything out before they filed, and Grande will “cut Dalton a check, and that will be that.” Public news of Grande and Gomez’s months-long separation broke in July.
Regarding the delay to file, a source with direct knowledge told TMZ the reason was that the two wanted to work out details and settle in private. “They’ve been really caring and respectful of one another every step of this process,” that source said, saying that there are no hard feelings between them.
Grande of course is now dating Ethan Slater, who filed for divorce from his own wife Lilly Jay in July.
On September 13, a source spoke to Entertainment Tonight about how Gomez was still healing post-breakup. The Los Angeles real estate agent has been “throwing himself into work and working harder than ever since his split from Ariana. He is trying to stay distracted and keep himself busy in positive ways.”
“He is dating a little bit and a lot of girls are giving Dalton attention,” the source added. “He is not completely over his relationship with Ariana, but he is doing his best to move forward.”
Neither Grande nor Gomez have commented on their breakup. The former couple first started dating in early 2020 before getting engaged in December 2020, then married in May 2021.
