Benny Blanco has now given fans a peek into the moment he proposed to Selena Gomez. On Instagram, the producer posted a video clip of the two toasting champagne, Gomez’s marquise diamond ring visible on her hand. He kept the post captionless.
As E! pointed out, the video also revealed some new details about the proposal. While Gomez’s original post announcing the engagement seemed to show her sitting in a park, Blanco’s post makes it look like the proposal took place on a soundstage. Notice the studio lights and recording equipment in the background. However, the couple has yet to share the exact story of how Blanco asked Gomez to marry him.
Gomez, meanwhile, shared a new photo of her and Blanco on her Instagram Story yesterday:
When Gomez announced the couple was engaged, Blanco left a comment on her Instagram. “hey wait… that’s my wife,” he wrote.
Gomez and Blanco have been together for over a year and a half. In May, he spoke to Howard Stern about his relationship with Gomez and whether he wanted to marry her one day. “The way we talk and stuff, people always say this to me, ‘You know when you meet your best friend,’” he said. “She’s truly just like my best friend. We laugh all fucking day. She inspires me.”
When asked whether he wanted to propose to Gomez, Blanco initially dodged the question, saying, “When I look at her, I do say, I’m always just like, ‘I don’t know a world where it could be better than this.’” He admitted soon after that he didn’t have a ring yet: “I don’t have anything. I’ve got no shoes on. I’ve got to get my act together.”
