Beyoncé Finally Shares Her Cécred Wash Day Ritual

Entering an artist’s world through their music is one thing, but a greater intimacy forms when an artist grants access to the most sacred parts of their life, especially an area that’s a common sore spot for many consumers: haircare. In February, Beyoncé launched Cécred, an extension of the lessons learned from her first job in her mother’s Houston hair salon and her own hair journey, and an act of service for others looking for relief. Since its launch, fan videos have poured in reviewing how the seven-piece collection works for various hair types. Now, we have Béyonce’s point of view.

“Now that Cécred is known for the quality and what it does for your hair, I think it’s about time I show y’all what it does for my hair,” Beyoncé says in a video posted to her Instagram in the wee hours of Sunday night. In it, the singer does a voiceover and gives a quick glimpse of her Cécred routine, which consists of shampoo, the two-step Fermented Rice & Rose Protein Powder following a fresh dye job, the Deep Conditioner (“I love it, it’s nothing like it!”), and a touch of Moisture Sealing Lotion before heat styling.

“The stigma and misconception is that people that wear wigs don’t have long and healthy hair—that’s some bullshit because it ain’t nobody’s business,” she quips. She adds that she blow-dries her hair on medium heat to minimize excessive heat (Beyoncé uses a Dyson Airwrap!?!) and uses a hot comb for straightening. Known for her blonde highlights, Beyonce maintains that her hair’s health—even with color-treating—is a result of the strengthening products in the Cécred bunch.

“Maintaining 25 years of blonde on natural hair through all the experimenting I do has played a huge part in developing@cecred’s products. It’s the hardest to keep color-treated hair healthy and strong, but @cecred is here. All quality, with NO shortcuts. Congratulations to the entire CÉCRED team for contributing to developing award-winning products,” she captioned the video.

Cécred takes a multi-pronged approach to hair recovery, but it’s built mainly around the brand’s patented Bioactive Keratin Ferment, made of keratin, honey, and prebiotic ferment, that mimics the hair’s natural protein to restore balance and deeply nourish.

“I’m proud of the ingredients, I’m proud of the way it’s making people feel. I’m proud that it’s not one-dimensional and that it’s for multiple textures,” she shares as she adds the finishing touches, The Nourishing Hair Oil, to her freshly curled tresses. Soon, Cécred will expand its offering to include a Hydrating Conditioner to match the Hydrating Shampoo, according to a blank Cécred silhouette on the site.
