Denim Spotlight: AG’s Latest Styles

Fashion

Jeans are workhorses—the most versatile, most durable, and most everlasting pants in a wardrobe. Made of denim, a hard-wearing cotton, the style imbues an effortless vibe. It’s a piece of clothing that requires minimal thought in the morning, a trusted stalwart that serves as a base, a reliable layer that, depending on the day ahead or event at hand, can be dressed up or down. But finding the right pair that fits this description, especially in a marketplace filled with nearly endless options, takes some effort.

The basic issue is that jeans aren’t one-size-fits-all. There are a range of cuts and crops, options blended with stretch fibers or made of stiff selvage denim, and a whole slew of washes to choose from. The perfect pair for you therefore boils down to your preference in silhouette and what flatters your figure.

Here to help you on your path to sartorially hassle-free mornings is AG. Founded in 2000, before the jean boom in the early aughts, the Los Angeles-based brand has become a leader in the sustainable category, continuously offering a wide selection of fits that are as stylish as they are eco-conscious. It has pioneered the use of ozone technology (which reduces water use), solar energy supply, and water recycling in the industry—all while designing jeans that are comfortable, hard-wearing, and elevated.

AG’s line for the Fall 2024 season showcases all of the above. The three new styles—the Brinley, Adria, and Hattie—all uphold the brand’s reputation of producing environmentally sound collections that speak to different bodies and aesthetics. From the refined materials to the considered proportions to the assortment of washes, any of these designs will serve you well when the temperatures start to drop.

Below, check out the stellar new line and the best ways to style each piece.

Take It Easy

A callback to Y2K fashion, big and baggy bottoms have become the zeitgeist’s silhouette of choice. The Adria, with its wide hem that drapes to the floor and a relaxed, low-rise hip, certainly hits this target, its look reminiscent of those favored by ’90s girl groups. But AG has fine-tuned the cut, making the leg more streamlined. Pair the jeans with a simple tee and sneakers for running errands throughout the day. Should you have an event that same evening, all you need to do is add a fitted blazer and switch out your kicks for a pair of stilettos.

Barrel Along

Of the three new styles on offer, the Hattie is the most adventurous, featuring a barrel leg—a cut that, true to its name, is loose and rounded in the thigh and tapers at the ankle. It is architectural, presenting proportions that will draw eyes in the best way. Wear it with strappy heels and a loose button-down with the hem tucked in and sleeves rolled up to achieve the look of our favorite street-style stars.

Keep It Classic

If you’re a fan of timeless cuts, it doesn’t get any better than the Brinley. The jean features a classic mid-rise hip and straight leg, along with stretch for added comfort. It is a style that will work in a variety of scenarios, a style that surpasses the seasons. But in fall, we feel the design works best with a pair of ankle boots and a slim knit top.
