On Valentine’s Day, Emma Watson made a rare public appearance at the 2025 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in Oakland, California. A video of the Harry Potter actress was shared by ESPN on TikTok, where she can be seen wearing a black T-shirt and black pants. Her hair is blown straight and she’s wearing small silver hoops in her ears. Over one arm, the star carried a red jacket, holding a pair of black sunglasses in the same hand.
In the brief clip, Watson can be seen with musician Tucker Halpern, spotting someone off screen. She waves excitedly and then blows kisses to the unseen friend.
The Beauty and the Beast actress has taken some time away from acting in recent years as she pursued a degree at Brown University, before enrolling in a part-time Master’s degree program at Oxford University. That’s also where she supposedly met Phd student Kieran Brown, her boyfriend, as reported by Entertainment Tonight.
In a December 2023 interview with British Vogue, Watson discussed her decision to live away from the spotlight for a while.
“I’m just so glad that I did it, because I have this feeling of having my own voice and creative space and sovereignty in some way that I don’t think I did before—more autonomy,” she shared.
Watson continued, “I’m so glad that I allowed things to be messy for a minute and to really allow myself to not know [what’s next], because the knowing that I’ve come to, I wouldn’t trade that for anything….I get a front row seat [with] some of the most successful, beautiful, incredible people in the world. And when you have that seat it becomes very, very clear that there is just absolutely no level of success that will make you in any way happy or content if you do not like who you are or enjoy what you’re doing when no one’s watching.”
