How ELLE’s Beauty Director Uses SheaMoisture’s New Styling Gel

Beauty

As a new mom, ELLE beauty director Chloe Hall looks for products that help keep her hair healthy and in place—no matter what the day holds. SheaMoisture’s Coconut & Hibiscus Defining Styling Gel, the newest formula in the brand’s nourishing line for thick and curly hair, has officially earned a place in her low-maintenance routine. Enriched with coconut oil, silk protein, neem oil, and flaxseed oil for healthy shine and to prevent dryness, the gel gives hair hold and control, tames flyaways, and makes styling easy. (And who couldn’t use a little more ease and control in their morning?)

Chloe likes to use the Defining Styling Gel to create a sleek low bun, and she demonstrates exactly how to do it in the video here. She starts by applying a small scoop of the non-alcohol-based gel with her fingers from root to tip, making sure to coat her edges. “It’s got such a nice texture—it’s not too sticky but gives me that ultimate hold,” she says. Next, she runs a brush through her hair to ensure an even product distribution. Leaving out her front fringe, she twists her hair into a low bun and secures it with a tie. She then tucks the front pieces behind her ears and, as a finishing touch, sprays SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Hold & Shine Moisture Mist all over. “It smells amazing, plus it’s adding a nice shine and taming any [flyaways] I missed,” she says. Chloe calls the final look “slick, sleek, and not going anywhere.”
