Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck had a family outing with Affleck’s 12-year-old son, Samuel, on Saturday night at the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against Golden State Warriors. The three sat court side, and Lopez showed off her casual game-day style. The singer paired a sequin jacket with a white T-shirt and open-leg jeans. She wore glittery, statement boots with the outfit. Her hair was styled down and straight.

Affleck and Lopez were affectionate during the match, holding hands and generally keeping close.

The date night follows the release of Lopez’s documentary about the making of her album This Is Me…Now and Affleck’s involvement in its film.

Affleck spoke on camera about their first breakup and his hesitancy about the project. Lopez used their relationship and her general journey in love as inspiration for the film and album.

“When Jen and I broke up before [in the early 2000s], the catalyst for that was the amount of scrutiny around our private life,” he said. “I had a very firm sense of boundaries, initially, around the press. While Jen, I don’t think objected to it in the way I did, I very much did object to it. Getting back together [in April 2021], I said, ‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media.’ And then I sort of realized it’s not a fair thing to ask. It’s sort of like you’re gonna marry a boat captain and like, ‘Well, I don’t like the water.’ We’re just two people with different approaches, trying to learn to compromise.”

He added later in the film, “And I don’t really love being in the making-of documentary about my personal life, which is why I’m so relieved. It seems like I might be in this [movie], but I’m not really. … I was worried for no reason. The movie wasn’t about me. It was about the ability to love yourself. And that love story is a lot fucking harder to find than Prince Charming.”
