Earth Month is here, and Davines is celebrating with the new WE STAND/For Regeneration Hair & Body Wash Bar. The moisturizing soap’s star player is white yarrow extract, the first ingredient cultivated in the brand’s regenerative organic farm in Parma, Italy. “The scent is fresh and slightly earthy, almost like a field of grass after a night of summer rain. It pains me to know that the bar is limited-edition, because I wouldn’t mind smelling like this all year,” shares Carol Lee, ELLE.com associate beauty e-commerce writer.
Jones Road’s latest lip launch is one that applies and looks like a satin lipstick but acts more like a nourishing balm. Plant-based oils and cocoa butter work hard to moisturize your pout as the brand’s concoction of spearmint, orange, and lavender essential oils create an addicting scent. Bobbi Brown, the makeup artist behind the brand, dreamed up 11 flattering shades for the product, from a bright coral to a deep cocoa. “Bobbi Brown has done it again! This formula feels so comfy and hydrating on my lips. While this is called a lipstick, it definitely performs like a tinted lip balm. A must-have for the ‘clean girl aesthetic” look,” says Danielle James, ELLE.com beauty director.
Many of us were devastated when Make Up For Ever retired the HD Skin Essentials Palette, but the multi-tasking compact has come back from the makeup graveyard. Professional makeup artists gave the palette new life, optimizing the shades to better suit the set of skin tones they’re each designed for—in fact, the product now comes in three harmonies instead of just two. The formula itself is as creamy and blendable as ever, making using it to fulfill all your base product needs feel intuitive.
When you hear Elizabeth Arden, you may think of your grandmother or mother’s skin care routine, but once you try their new moisturizer, it will undoubtedly become part of your routine, too. “If you want the results of a rich cream without the accompanied heaviness, opt for this eight-in-one formula. With hyaluronic acid and squalene, which plumps your skin and protects your moisture barrier, but the botanical blurring complex is the real star—it helps control oil and diffuse imperfections, creating the perfect base for your makeup,” says James.
April showers and light jacket weather indicate that spring is on its way. Ditch the scents that got you through your winter blues and start anew with a citrus-packed fragrance like Kérylos. The perfume mixes mandarin, yuzu, and grapefruit to produce a sparkling scent that wakes you up at first sniff. Appropriately, the name honors the kingfisher, a bird believed to represent fresh starts. “I don’t call this a grapefruit scent—it’s pamplemousse to me—because at first sniff, the fragrance smells like an expensive grapefruit mimosa. As it dries down, there are some earthy herbs. I smelled a basil-like scent on my co-worker, but on me, the citrus really shined through,” says James.
“When I first applied this sunscreen, I was a bit worried about the white cast, but it blended right into my melanated skin! Often sunscreens will make me look dull and gray. This formula does the exact opposite. I wish it came in a bigger size,” says James. This sunscreen not only protects your skin from the sun, but also blue light. In addition, it’s formulated with antioxidants to protect against free radicals and blue light radiation and has silver ear mushroom extract to leave your skin hydrated.
