On Saturday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry continued their tour of Colombia together, heading to the town of San Basilio de Palenque. The couple walked hand-in-hand through the village, smiling and chatting with one another. The Duchess wore a form-fitting white linen skirt that went all the way to her ankles with a sleeveless tank top by Argent in a warm cream.
On her head was a white Panama hat with a black band and she accessorized with a pair of aviator sunglasses and several pieces of jewelry, including Princess Diana’s Gold Tank Française Watch and a Cartier Love Yellow Gold Bracelet. On her feet were a pair of black thong sandals and she wore black and white statement earrings. Harry was also in linen, wearing a light blue button-down shirt and white pants with brown leather shoes.
Earlier that same day, they visited Escuela Tambores de Cabildo, a local drum school preserving traditional African drumming. There, Meghan wore a matching silk crop top and flowing skirt by Johanna Ortiz in black with a rope pattern and bow detail and her cream Cesta Collective crossbody bag. The couple were given both a show and short drum tutorial on their trip.
A spokesperson for the vice president’s office said of the visit, “The event was a special meeting to reconnect with African roots; to learn about the experiences and living conditions of black, Afro-descendant, Raizal and Palanquero peoples in the region and to strengthen human and cultural development programs that promote the guarantee of cultural and collective rights in this territory.”
Meghan herself made similar comments during their tour, saying, “We understand very well the importance and meaning of what this town is, it has become very clear to us. We understand what Palenque represents for Colombia and for the world, we thank you for sharing with us everything you showed to us.”
Prince Harry added, “It feels like we have already seen the whole country. What we are seeing here is everything that is a community, do not forget the message of the Vice President, they are stronger together, they are stronger united as one.”
