Miley Cyrus turned 31 on Thursday, November 23, which coincided with the Thanksgiving holiday. She posted on social media about how she decided to celebrate with friends and family members on Tuesday evening in a special way at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont hotel.
For the big night, Cyrus wore a stunning outfit in black, including a sheer black bustier paired with a black pencil skirt that came just below her knee and a cropped black blazer with high shoulders. For accessories, she wore black sunglasses and carried a leopard print purse.
The singer shared a carousel of images and videos from the night, showing herself on a small stage singing. In the videos, she’s removed her jacket, revealing bare shoulders and black opera glasses. She’s wearing a miniskirt and semi-sheer black tights.
“My birthday gift to MYSELF this year was VERY on brand. I performed for MYSELF and sang my favorite songs including my own,” Cyrus wrote in the effusive caption. “First ‘live’ performance of Flowers was to an audience full of my friends and family. Taking this song back to the seed… she sprouted sensationally. Grateful for the growth in us both. 🌹💋❤️ With Love, Miley.”
The new rendition of “Flowers” was backed by a piano, and she encouraged her audience to sing along with her at certain points. She later sang “Faithfully” by Journey, joined by pop star Ryan Beatty. In the audience was Cyrus’ boyfriend Maxx Morando, who she appeared to be singing directly to at certain moments.
Earlier this month, Cyrus picked up six Grammy nominations for her album Endless Summer Vacation. She celebrated on Instagram and congratulated the other female musical artists on the list.
“Watching women rule the music industry makes me proud. It’s fun to be nominated & exciting to win but having my music LOVED around the world is the real trophy,” she wrote. “To my Smilers – I celebrate YOU today. Your joy is my bliss. My team + all of my collaborators are irreplaceable & priceless pieces of this puzzle. I love you all. Thank you for making my Endless Summer Vacation so sweet.”
