Naomi Osaka Has Entered The Skincare Game

Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka can now add skincare guru to her resume. Meet KINLÒ, the tennis star’s new brand that was formulated specifically for darker skin tones and aims to begin a conversation about skin protection and skin cancer in communities of color while looking glowy and stunning every day. The name of the brand also pays homage to Osaka’s heritage, as “kin” and “lo” both mean “gold” in Japanese and Haitian Creole.

The initial launch includes an SPF, eye cream, mist, and lip balm, which are sure to become staples for anyone who wants on-the-go protection. Dr. Naana Boakye, the Dermatology Director of KINLÒ, is on board to make sure all the products are of the highest quality while also helping educate consumers on the importance of skin protection, particularly from sun damage.

For Osaka, including people of color in discussions around sun damage is incredibly important. “Through my personal experience and learnings, I have found that Black, Brown, and other melanated skin-toned communities are often an after-thought in the discussion and research surrounding sun care, including being excluded from clinical studies on skin cancer,” she said. “Additionally, there is a lack of sun protection products being made with melanated skin in mind. These points have all led me to create KINLÒ, a mission-first brand.”

Available exclusively on KINLÒ’s website, these products will become staples for anyone looking for effective skincare–both on and off the court.
