Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ one-year-old daughter, Malti Marie, made her event debut this afternoon to celebrate her father and his brothers receiving Hollywood Walk of Fame stars. Malti was photographed in her mother’s arms during the ceremony. The little fashionista was outfitted in a white headband and cream tweed set.
Chopra wore brown, while Jonas matched his daughter in cream and white.
Chopra shared an Instagram post featuring video of her and Malti at the event along with Malti’s face while she was taking in her father’s remarks about her on stage.
Malti was born to a surrogate last January. The couple revealed later that she was born prematurely and spent more than 100 days in the NICU. They shared her story and that she was home with them on Mother’s Day last year.
“On this Mother’s Day we can’t help but reflect on these last few months and the rollercoaster we’ve been on, which we now know, so many people have also experienced,” Chopra shared. “After 100 plus days in the NICU, our little girl is finally home. Every family’s journey is unique and requires a certain level of faith, and while ours was a challenging few months, what becomes abundantly clear, in retrospect, is how precious and perfect every moment is. We are overjoyed that our little girl is finally home, and just want to thank every Doctor, nurse and specialist at Rady Children’s La Jolla and Cedar Sinai, Los Angeles, who were there selflessly every step of the way. Our next chapter begins now, and our baby is truly a badass. Let’s get it MM! Mommy and Daddy love you. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and caretakers in my life and out there. You make it look so easy. Thank you. Also.. there is no one I’d rather do this with than you. Thank you for making me a mama @nickjonas I love you ❤️”
Chopra recently spoke to British Vogue about Malti’s first months. She was born a trimester early, Chopra revealed.
“I was in the OR [operating room] when she came out. She was so small, smaller than my hand,” Chopra told the magazine, holding out her palm for scale. “I saw what the intensive-care nurses do. They do God’s work. Nick and I were both standing there as they intubated her. I don’t know how they even found what they needed [in her tiny body] to intubate her.”
Malti spent three months in the NICU, with Jonas and Chopra visiting daily. “We spent every single day with her on my chest, on my husband’s chest,” Chopra said. “I didn’t know if she would make it or not.” Malti thankfully recently celebrated her first birthday with her parents.
This is Malti’s first time photographed out at an event. While her parents have shared photos of her before, up until this point, they have kept her face hidden. Today marked the exception, with Chopra sharing video of Malti, too.
