Selena Gomez regularly takes social media breaks, and after being the target of fan-made Golden Globes drama, Gomez is done being online for now. On her Instagram Story last night, Gomez announced to her followers that she was taking a breather. “I’m off social for a while. I’m focusing on what really matters,” she wrote over a video of her boyfriend, Benny Blanco, with kids.
Earlier that day, Gomez posted an Instagram comment to clarify what she, Keleigh Sperry, and Taylor Swift were talking about in Golden Globes footage of them that went viral. Fans had speculated that, because they believed Sperry said “with Timothée!?” based on her lip movements, Gomez had revealed his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, had blocked her from getting a photo with him.
Gomez responded to E!’s Instagram about the moment. The outlet wrote, “At tea time, we’d love to know if Selena Gomez was really gossiping about Kylie Jenner & Timothée Chalamet at this year’s #GoldenGlobes. 👀 A source sets the record straight at the link in bio.” Gomez replied, “Noooooo I told Taylor about two of my friends who hooked up. Not that that’s anyone business.”
On Monday, a source close to Gomez had already told People that she “was absolutely not referencing anything about Timothée or Kylie.” They added that Gomez “never even saw or spoke to them [Jenner and Chalamet]” at the Globes.
Chalamet spoke about the fake drama with a TMZ photographer who asked him about it on Monday night. When asked if he and Gomez were “cool,” he replied, “Yeah, of course.” When asked if Jenner and Gomez had any “beef,” he said, “No.”
He said on the whole, “We’re all good.”
