Selena Gomez Jokes About How Young Or Old She’ll Go When Dating

Culture

Pop star Selena Gomez might be one of the funnier celebs on TikTok and her content also gives us a little glimpse into what dating is like for the 29-year-old musical artist. In a recent TikTok, she joked about her love life, though it has since been deleted. Luckily, some avid fans captured it for posterity on Twitter.

In the short clip, Gomez lip-synchs to a “sound” on the app that originally came from an episode of Bravo’s Family Karma in which their protagonist Anisha Ramakrishna is asked, “What is your dating range lately?”

Ramakrishna apparently has a thing for older men, because she replied, “31 to coffin.”

In the TikTok with Gomez, she is sitting inside on a pile of white pillows wearing an over-sized hoodie as she mouths the words dejectedly; it doesn’t seem like she is particularly interested in the romantic prospects reaching their later years, it seems more like a comment on what dating is like these days.

Gomez jokes about being single on social media frequently. Just a few days ago, she posted a TikTok of herself talking to the camera, saying, “No, I’m fine. I’m totally fine being single. It’s a real thing. It’s fine.”

She then pans over to two couples snuggling on the couch nearby, then back to herself looking away as they giggle. Hey, who hasn’t been the fifth wheel at some point?

Gomez is currently starring in Only Murders in the Building, a show on Hulu created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman and also starring Martin Short. Gomez plays Mabel Mora, a girl who lives in the Upper West Side apartment where a grisly murder occurs. Hoffman told Vanity Fair that in season 2, Mabel will be meeting someone new, at least, and the character is played by Gomez’s real life bestie Cara Delevingne.

“Mabel meets a love interest in Cara Delevingne’s Alice, an art-gallery owner of her own generation who puts Mabel in touch with a side of herself she’s been somewhat neglecting since the show began,” Hoffman said. “It was amazing to have the two of them know each other and feel comfortable…It’s a little sparky in all the right ways that makes you feel like, ‘Oh, someone’s opening someone’s world.’”
