Selena Gomez Just Debuted a Big Back Tattoo

Selena Gomez got a sizable back tattoo, tattoo artist Bang Bang revealed on his Instagram this week, but close-up details of the design will have to wait. Bang Bang posted a photo of Gomez with her back and the ink exposed, but it was taken so far away that it’s not entirely clear what Gomez chose to have tattooed on her, only that it’s big. Commenters begged for a better look, but for now, this teaser will have to suffice:

Gomez has not posted about the tattoo on her own Instagram. She did share details about a small matching tattoo she got in the past though with her three closest friends, Raquelle Stevens, Ashley Cook, and Courtney Lopez.

“#4 because these women have stayed by my side for 7 years (@ashley_cook 12 years) 4, because you are my 4 for the rest of my life,” Gomez wrote in August 2018. “I love you ladies. You all inspire me to be better, stronger, closer to god and we have lived the most INSANE story together already. Can’t wait for 50 more!! Ps @raquellestevens had an actual panic attack 🙄 it’s a dot! 🤦🏽‍♀️ ”

Gomez did speak to ELLE.com and other reporters recently about how her standard of beauty was warped from being famous at such a young age. Embracing her own beauty was a process.

“I’ve been in makeup since I was seven years old. I feel like that kind of messed with me,” she started. “You’re so young and then working. I have professionals doing my makeup and suddenly I can look 25 when I was 16, and it was crazy. Then I felt like, ‘oh, I look too young all the time. I should achieve that look more. I should try that.’ It just made me question my beauty for what it was.”

She created Rare Beauty, her makeup brand, for those who have had similar self-doubt about their appearance. “I’ve been a victim to wanting to change my face and do things because I see such like intense trends,” she continued. “I think the most rewarding part of creating this line is that we create a place for people who don’t necessarily want to get work done or change their face. They just want to embrace what they are and what they have.”
