Selena Gomez Wears Chic Little Black Dress to TIFF Event

On Sunday, Selena Gomez wore a little black dress to an interview at the Variety Studio at the Toronto International Film Festival for her project Emilia Pérez, directed by Jacques Audiard. The look had a retro feel with raised shoulders, three quarter sleeves, and a form fitting short skirt.

She wore the dress with sheer black tights and black pumps. Her hair was down and elevated at the crown with a slight bump for volume. She wore several rings for a bit of sparkle.

In May, Gomez won the Best Actress Award at Cannes Film Festival for the movie, along with all of the women in the cast: Zoe Saldana, Karla Sofia Gascón, and Adriana Paz. After her win, Gomez told the AP how it felt to be acting again and especially in Spanish.

“I’m going to diminish myself a little bit here. This has nothing to do with the film, I am honored to be a part of it. I’m not as happy with what I feel like I could’ve done in Spanish,” she said. “But overall, I hope that it doesn’t hinder my performance and I’m really grateful for the opportunity. Perhaps I could’ve had more time with it, but I was full-throttle and I wanted to be a part of this so badly. It was a challenge for me, for sure.

During their interview with Variety, the cast was asked about contributing to Gomez’s next album, since the film is a musical in which the pop star sings. After they joked about being happy to collaborate, Gomez admitted it might be a while.

“Maybe, I don’t even have one yet,” she laughed.

The Wizards of Waverly Place star certainly has plenty going on already. She recently reached billionaire status in thanks to her Rare Beauty line and has said she wants to focus on acting.

“Acting has, and will always be, my heart,” she told The Hollywood Reporter after receiving an Emmy nomination for Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building. “There’s so much that I want to do and that I haven’t even scratched the surface of, and it’s exciting to me.”
