Site and Storefront Visits – CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund 2012 – Vogue

Video
It’s one thing to witness a designer describe her entire vision, brand, and clothes to Anna Wintour and the full CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund selection committee—in fifteen minutes or less. It’s another thing to watch that same designer unveil a brand-new collection in the midst of New York Fashion Week. And it’s still another to view that same designer’s clothes photographed by the legendary Peter Lindbergh in the pages of Vogue. But encountering that designer in her own environment is perhaps the most revealing test of all.

This week’s episode of The Fashion Fund brings us to the site visit, the all-important moment when the judges make the trek to the studios and storefronts of the ten finalists. “It’s my favorite part of the process for the Fashion Fund,” says J.Crew’s Jenna Lyons. “Just to see the contrast of how the designers work, and how they acutally see themselves. . . .”

Whether polished showrooms or underground ateliers, what do the finalists’ studios say about their chance at winning the top prize? Watch Episode 4 of The Fashion Fund to find out.
