Sofia Vergara Is ‘Doing Great’ After Split From Joe Manganiello

On Friday, Sofia Vergara’s good friend Julie Bowen spoke with People while attending the Step Up Inspiration Awards and was asked about her Modern Family co-star of 11 years. Bowen said that she will “always” support her friend, and that she has been seeing Vergara thrive after her breakup with Joe Manganiello.

“Her Instagram says it all,” Bowen claimed. “We have spoken, and she’s doing great. Sofia has always had such a wonderful family that surrounds her and wonderful friends,” before adding jokingly, “She doesn’t need Taylor Swift to take her to a game.”

Bowen added, “She’s good. But I’m super happy that all those other girls are going to games with T Swifty. I wish she had been around for me.”

She shared more about their longstanding working relationship and the close friendship that developed over their many years together on the hugely popular ABC sitcom.

“Sofia has always been my role model as far as embracing being a woman and womanly, and yet also being powerful and not,” said Bowen. “I always felt like you had to compromise one for the other.”

The actress has been asked about her friend quite a bit. In August, she told E! News that Vergara does everything “with grace.”

“And she rises above and she just goes forward. She’s warm and generous and giving to everybody around her,” Bowen continued. “I have no doubt that if she wishes to be in a relationship she will be, but she sure don’t need one.”

Vergara and Manganiello were married for seven years, and split shortly before her 51st birthday, which she celebrated with friends in Italy and without her husband or wedding ring. Manganiello was the one who officially filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

In a statement to Page Six, the former couple said, “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect for our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
