Is any footwear collection ever really complete? Now that we’re knocking at spring’s door, we figured it was the right time to hit you with our findings on this season’s best shoe trends. From the start of spring/summer fashion month last September up until this very minute, our fashion market team has worked tirelessly on its trend report, which outlines the forecast for bags, jewelry, apparel, and yes, shoes. While we can’t share the full report, we’re revealing our long-awaited top five shoe trends for spring. Enjoy!
Western
Maybe Cowboy Carter was more impactful than we thought, or maybe everyone’s dreaming of the West’s dry heat. Elements of Americana were sprinkled throughout September’s runways, with an emphasis on fringe. As expected, Paris Texas got in on the action, but Jil Sander and Prada’s boots were also quite memorable.
Retro Runners
It’s always good news when sneakers and flats make the runway reports. And this season, it doesn’t come as any surprise. Elevated athleisure is one of the major themes at play right now, as evidenced by Prada and Loewe’s trainers.
Jewelry on Shoes
Yes, your accessories need accessories now. Because why shouldn’t your shoes have earrings? If you ask the fashion geniuses at Dries Van Noten or Louis Vuitton, footwear should absolutely be embellished. And if you’ve seen Simone Rocha’s Croc collaboration, you know exactly where she stands on the matter.
Wedges
The most exciting shoes to hit the spring/summer runways were, arguably, the sculptural wedges at Gucci, Bottega Veneta, and Courrèges, just to name a few. This proved that the silhouette is back and truly better than ever.
Slingbacks
In a move that can only be described as a gift to heel wearers, slingbacks are here to stay. That’s right, your toes finally can take a break from gripping for dear life to the soles of those pumps without any help. Thank you notes can be directed to Christian Dior, Michael Kors, and Valentino.
