On Sunday, Taylor Swift attended her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s football game at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, as he and his team the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the Baltimore Ravens. The AFC Championship will determine who is heading to the Super Bowl in February, so it was a high pressure moment for Kelce and his teammates.
She was seen entering the stadium with friend Brittany Mahomes, wearing a black coat with gold buttons over a red shirt and a gold necklace. On her legs were semi-sheer black tights. Mahomes had on a black-and-white leather trench and was carrying a bright red leather bag.
Since September, Swift has attended 11 of Kelce’s games, so she has been along for quite a bit of the ride as the Chiefs enjoy their success. Her presence at the games has been called distracting by some, but the numbers indicate that Swift being in the audience has increased the NFL’s reach.
On Sunday, January 21, CBS reported that the Chiefs versus Bills game was the most-watched divisional playoff game in history, with over 50 million viewers. Swift was there cheering her boyfriend on. The Eras Tour star is well aware of the fact that not all football fans are happy to see her in the stands, and she addressed the minor controversy in her Time 2023 Person of the Year cover story last December.
“I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in,” she said of the many shots of her broadcast throughout games. “There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once.”
She added, “I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
When it was mentioned that she had likely brought a bunch of Swifties into the sports fold, Swift replied, “Football is awesome, it turns out. I’ve been missing out my whole life.”
