Travis Kelce Opened Up About Dating Taylor Swift for the First and (Maybe) Last Time

Culture

After Taylor Swift dominated headlines for attending Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs game over the weekend, Travis spoke about what dating her has been like on his and brother Jason Kelce’s podcast New Heights today.

The brothers admitted they had been hesitant to broach the topic since the Swift rumors first emerged. Travis then shared that this would be the last time he delves into his relationship with Swift going forward.

He first conceded that he did this to himself. “I know I brought all this attention to me, right?” he said. “I did the whole friendship bracelet thing and told everyone how butt-hurt I was that I didn’t get to meet Taylor.”

He hinted he had no regrets about that, saying, “you miss 100 percent of [the shots] you don’t take, baby, so yeah.” Then he added more seriously, “What’s real is it is my personal life, and I want to respect both of our lives. She’s not in the media as much as I am doing this show every single week and you know, having fun during the NFL season and on other guys’ shows like the McAfee Show, and any other show that I go on from here on out.”

“I’m enjoying life, and I sure as hell enjoyed this weekend so everything moving forward, I think me talking about sports … will kind of have to be where I keep it,” he said.

He did offer some details on Swift’s game-day appearance and the impact of being romantically linked to her in his day-to-day life.

“I’m on the roller coaster, the roller coaster of life,” Travis said. “Yeah, I notice a few things [are different], like paparazzi outside my house.”

Jason started the Swift conversation by asking Travis, “How does it feel that Taylor Swift finally put you on the map?”

Travis then gave her a direct message, “Shoutout to Taylor for pulling up [to the Chiefs game]. That was pretty ballsy, that was pretty ballsy, yeah. I just thought it was awesome how everyone in the suite had nothing but great things about her, you know the friends and family. She looked amazing. Everybody was talking about her in a great light, and on top of that, the day went perfect for Chiefs fans, of course. We script it all, ladies and gentlemen. It was just impressive.”

He called the energy “electric” on Sunday. “To see the slow motion chest bumps, to see the high fives with Mom, to see how, you know, the Chiefs kingdom was all excited that she was there, that shit was absolutely hysterical. It was definitely a game I’ll remember. That’s for damn sure. And then we just slid off in the getaway car at the end.”

He then gave Swift one last message, saying with a big smile, “Shoutout to Taylor for coming through and seeing me rock the stage.”
