YSL’s New Perfume Makes Zoë Kravitz Feel Sexy

Beauty

If you’ve ever wondered what Catwoman smells like, the answer is probably YSL Beauty’s Black Opium Eau de Parfum. Actress and singer Zoë Kravitz–who you’ve seen in Big Little Lies, High Fidelity, and your dreams–is a longtime partner with the French brand. “I love working with YSL,” Kravitz told ELLE.com. “It’s always so fun to work with them because they’ve become like family to me.”

And that family is growing. YSL’s Black Opium perfume, a cult-favorite staple in the line, recently added a new member: Black Opium Extreme Eau de Parfum. This new iteration still has the luxe notes of coffee, vanilla bourdon, and jasmine that customers love, but with a powerful twist that makes it even more decadent.

“It’s a little bit of a deeper smell,” says Kravitz. “These coffee tones are really beautiful and maybe slightly more earthy and masculine, which I think to me is even sexier.” A little mood booster is exactly what we need after the chaotic past year. For Kravitz, a spritz of Black Opium Extreme helped make the past year more bearable. “I feel like I didn’t have the emotional strength to do a lot of makeup, but scent is something that’s a part of my routine. It was nice to just smell like myself.” She jokes, “Oh, I did the thing. I showered, I put on deodorant and perfume. I’m a human.”

Getting back into a fragrance routine also helped Kravitz bring back happy memories. “I think all scent is attached to memory,” she told ELLE.com. “I go see my mom, and the kitchen smells a certain way.” In Kravitz’s routine, perfume is the last step. “It feels like a nice little finishing thing,” she says. “It’s like a period. You’re like, boop, done.”

With the world coming back to life, there’s never been a better time to find a new daily scent to make happy memories with. And why not choose something that makes you feel a little sexy? As Kravitz puts it: “We can all use little sensual perfume for sure.”
